For domestic bookings made within two days of the scheduled pickup date or for certain changes made to existing bookings within two days of pickup, bags must be dropped off directly at the appropriate carrier location — FedEx, DHL, or UPS — rather than collected from your door. If your shipping labels are delivered to you by email, drop-off is also required regardless of your booking date. This requirement does not apply to cruise shipments.
Why proper labeling matters
Improper labeling is the single most common cause of lost or delayed bags. Luggage Forward and carrier-issued tags are significantly more secure than any alternative method and are the only approved way to label your shipment.
Approved labeling methods, in order of preference:
- Luggage Forward printed label packet — best
- UPS / FedEx tags applied at the carrier location — acceptable
Labels applied with tape, placed in plastic bags, or secured with Ziploc bags are not acceptable under any circumstances. Shipments labeled using these methods are at significantly higher risk of label separation during transit, and improper tag attachment voids the Double Money-Back Guarantee.
We understand some clients have used tape in the past without issue. However, our operational data shows that improperly attached labels are the leading cause of service failures — this change exists to protect your shipment and your coverage.
Drop-off ensures your bags are protected
When you drop off your bags at a carrier location, your labels are verified and applied correctly at the point of entry into the carrier network. This is the most reliable way to ensure your bags are properly identified throughout their journey.
Finding your drop-off location
Your booking confirmation will specify the carrier and nearest drop-off location for your shipment. Drop-off locations for FedEx, DHL, and UPS can also be found on each carrier's website.
Planning ahead
