Your luggage tags are one of the most important elements of a successful shipment. Proper labeling is the single most common factor in preventing lost or delayed bags — and incorrect or improperly attached tags are the leading cause of labels separating from luggage in transit.
How you will receive your tags
For bookings made at least two days before your scheduled pickup date, Luggage Forward will mail a printed label packet to your address in advance of your collection date. Your packet will contain the shipping tags and any documentation required for your shipment.
For bookings made within two days of your pickup date, or when labels are delivered by email, you will receive your tags electronically. In these cases, drop-off at the appropriate carrier location — FedEx, DHL, or UPS — is required rather than door collection. For more detail, see our article: Why Does My Booking Show As A Drop Off
How to attach your tags
Luggage Forward tags must be attached using the method provided in your packet. Tags should be firmly and securely fastened — not taped, placed in plastic bags, or attached by any improvised method.
Tags applied with tape, Ziploc bags, plastic sleeves, or any similar method are not acceptable. LF and carrier-issued tags are significantly more secure than taped alternatives, and improperly attached tags void the Double Money-Back Guarantee. This is not a preference — it is a service quality requirement that directly protects your shipment.
- Slide through the handle and expose the adhesive
- Loop around the handle and stick together
- Ensure the label is visible to the driver
One tag per bag
Every bag in your shipment requires its own tag. Each tag in your packet is assigned to a specific bag in your booking. Ensure that each bag is labeled individually before leaving your bags for collection or drop-off.
Remove old tags
If your bags have tags from a previous shipment, airline, or carrier, remove them before attaching your Luggage Forward tags. Old tags can confuse carrier scanners and create routing errors during transit. Keep your cruise line tags on the bag if this booking is for a cruise!
Approved tagging methods, in order of preference
