Shipping your golf clubs ahead of your trip is one of the easiest ways to travel lighter and arrive ready to play. With just a few simple steps, you can ensure your clubs arrive safely and in great condition.
Remove Club Heads (If Possible)
If your clubs have removable heads, we recommend detaching them before packing.
- Store the removed heads inside the golf bag.
- Use the club’s headcovers to protect them.
- Place them securely within the bag to prevent movement.
This helps reduce stress on the shafts during transit.
Remove Batteries from Rangefinders
Rangefinders often contain lithium batteries, which cannot be shipped inside luggage.
Before packing:
- Remove the battery from the rangefinder.
- Store the battery separately and carry it with you during travel.
Remove Aerosols and Other Restricted Items
Aerosols and certain hazardous materials cannot be shipped.
Please remove items such as:
- Aerosol sprays
- Pressurized containers
- Containers with Oil or Alcohol (sunscreen, after sun care, cologne, bug repellent)
- Any potentially hazardous materials
If you’re unsure about an item, our team is always happy to help.
Bundle Clubs/Add Padding to Reduce Movement
A simple way to add extra protection is to place soft items between your clubs.
We recommend:
- Adding loose outerwear, towels, or clothing around the clubs
- Placing these items between the clubs and the outer bag
This helps minimize rattling and movement during transit.
Secure Kickstand Legs
If your golf bag has kickstand legs:
- Make sure they are securely strapped down
- Wrap them with a strap or soft item to prevent them from opening during transit
This prevents the legs from bending or being damaged.
Locking Requirements (Domestic vs. International)
Please note the luggage locking requirements for domestic and international shipments:
- Domestic (US): Items must be locked. Failure to lock them voids the right to file a claim for lost or missing contents.
- International: Items must be unlocked for Customs screening. Zip ties or other removable fasteners may be used to secure items. If a lock is broken by Customs, Luggage Forward is not liable.
This helps avoid any delays through processing and customs clearance.
Final Tip
Once packed, ensure your golf travel bag is fully zipped and secure. Our shipping labels will be attached to the exterior of the bag (remember to place a label inside the bag as well), and your clubs will be on their way.
If you have any questions about packing or preparing your clubs, our team is always here to help.
We’ll make sure everything arrives exactly where it needs to go, so you can focus on enjoying the round.
